MILAN, Italy – Sonnedix, the global solar independent power producer (IPP) has issued a Notice To Proceed (NTP) for several of its projects under development in Italy, totalling 50 MW of capacity.

The five projects set to commence construction are located in the regions of Lazio, and Piemonte.

The solar PV plants will be built by TEA TEK, and Energy Systems Services (BayWa r.e.) as EPC contractor, with their completions expected between the second and third quarter of 2023. Together, these solar PV plants will produce over 87 GWh per year of green electricity, capable of powering over 33,000 Italian homes, and avoiding emissions of over 24,000 tons of CO2 per year.

This is a tremendous milestone for Sonnedix Italy” – said Axel Thiemann, CEO of Sonnedix. “Our journey in Italy started over a decade ago, with a long-term commitment to keep expanding the use of renewable energy in the country. Today we operate over 170 solar PV plants and we’re developing more than 1.3GW, to help build a bright future for all!”

Sonnedix currently has over 7GW of capacity, including a development pipeline of more than 5GW. In Italy, the IPP has almost 300MW in operation, plus over 1.3GW of development pipeline, and continues actively looking for opportunities to expand its solar footprint in the market, and around OECD countries.
