Roberto Vigotti
He is the Secretary General of the RES4Africa Foundation, where he coordinates a series of activities aimed at transforming the African energy sector through public-private dialogue, market-oriented analysis, capacity building activities, and on-field projects. He also coordinates renewAfrica, an industry-supported initiative advocating for the creation of a global European program for investments in renewable energies in Africa, to be promoted and managed by EU institutions. Graduated in Electrical Engineering in 1971, he spent 35 years in the Research and Development Division of the electric company Enel, where he was involved in the field of ultra-high voltage transmission and since 1982 in coordinating research and demonstration programs in new renewable energies. Representing Enel at Eurelectric, the association of European electric utilities, he founded and chaired for 7 years the Renewable and Distributed Generation Working Group. Collaborating with major international organizations in the renewable energy sector, throughout his career he was delegate to the Renewable Working Party of the International Energy Agency (IEA) from 1989, where he served as President for 12 years and initiated the IEA cooperation agreement on photovoltaic systems. He was also coordinator of the IEA's RE Industry Advisory Board from 2012 to 2019. Vigotti is also a member of IRENA's Coalition for Action.
